Many people don’t think about decorative plates when it comes to decorating their home. They tend to overlook the little things that make a house a home. Decorative plates can often be just what is needed to pull a room together. There are many decorative plates that are used everyday, however, there are also decorative plates that are used strictly to hang on the wall or in a china cabinet.

There are many old fashioned decorative plates that have traveled down through many generations. Some of them are still being manufactured today, however, they may not be a decorative as their ancestors. Recipe plates are decorative plates and actually have real recipes on them! Prayer plates are also decorative plates, however, they are not as elaborately detailed and only have gold rims with a prayer on the front of the plate.










If you are thinking about collecting decorative plates they are available in retail stores, discount retail stores, china shops, and boutiques. You’ll even find them at garage sales, church bazaars, flea markets and estate sales. Before buying them, be sure they are authentic decorative plates. Check out the bottom or heel of the plate and look for a manufacturer stamp or a date of when the plate was created.
